The PSSC is holding two Training Workshops on Designing Social Science Research, one on qualitative and one on quantitative research. These will provide an overview of the basic concepts and the step-by-step process of social science research, beginning from identifying a research topic and formulating a research problem, up to constructing a research framework and selecting the appropriate approach and methodology.
At the end of each course, participants are expected to:
- Understand and articulate the fundamental concepts and different stages of the social science research process, especially in designing a research project;
- Expound on the different approaches, methods, tools, and analytical frames for social science research; and
- Evaluate and apply the appropriate research design, particularly the method/s, for a given research topic.

The courses are open to all social science researchers, faculty, students, development workers, and practitioners interested in doing qualitative and/or quantitative social science research.
Each course will be delivered on-site and synchronously. Each course will employ lectures, discussions, open fora, and interactive exercises.
Yes. Each participant may join one or both courses.
Each course will be held for a duration of two days from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The total duration for each course is 16 hours.
Yes. For each course completed, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion. Each participant must accomplish an evaluation form in order to receive the certificate.
