PSSC-KAS-NUS Chacha Workshop

Dates of Implementation: 8-9 July 2005

Partner Institution: Asia Research Institute of the National University of Singapore and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung-Manila

Objective:

To draw on insights from recent reform experiences in a select number of other Asian countries, particularly Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan. Ultimately, the workshop aims to produce a volume based on the session discussions.

Project Description:

A formal workshop organized by the PSSC, ARI, and KAS aimed at developing an extensive analysis on the issues of constitutional reform by participants from throughout the Philippines as well as from overseas.

Drawing on papers that provide insightful analysis on issues of constitutional reform, the ultimate goal is to produce an edited volume that will heighten the quality of public discourse over issues of constitutional reform and contribute to the emergence of reforms that are most effective in improving the quality of democracy in the Philippines.  It is hoped that the volume will be of substantial value in bringing new perspectives to bear in continuing debates over the virtues and character of constitutional reform.
