This series seeks to recognize the works or contribution of social scientists during the pandemic and explore their role in solving the country’s most complex issues brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On June 15, 2021,  PSSC held the the first part of the series in partnership with the UP Population Institute focused on the rollout of vaccines. • What are the experiences of women and LGBTQIA+ groups during the pandemic? How do women, LGBTQIA+, and organized groups and institutions, including government respond to the issues surrounding the COVID-19?
  • What areas of social or legal protection should the policymakers be looking at? Are there protections for this sector coming from other institutions?

The discussion featured Darlene May Casiano of the Negros Island Bamboo Network, Marie Rose Ramos of GALANG Philippines, Dr. Remedios Mondiguing of the UP Diliman Office of Anti-sexual Harassment, and Irene Tillah of the Noorus Salaam National Women Council, Inc.
