PSSC awards 2022 VAM Excellence in Research Award to medical anthropologist Paul Gideon D. Lasco, MD, PhD

The Philippine Social Science Council is pleased to announce that Paul Gideon D. Lasco, MD, PhD has been chosen as the recipient of the 2022 Virginia A. Miralao (VAM) Excellence in Research Award for their book chapter “Living together in precarious times: COVID-19 in the Philippines,” published in “Viral Loads: Anthropologies of urgency in the time of COVID-19” (2021) edited by Lenore Manderson, Nancy J. Burke, and Ayo Wahlberg.

The VAM Excellence in Research Award serves as an incentive for young social scientists to pursue original and meaningful research. Every year, it recognizes the best article, book chapter, or book written by a promising young scholar in the profession. The award comes with a modest cash prize and a commemorative trophy designed by visual artist Toym Imao.
